Browser Plug-ins I use

B

I use Firefox as my primary desktop browser. I like it because it isn’t owned by a mega-corporation. It’s independent. Whenever I can support the little guy against the giants, I will.

Some of the plug-ins I use with it to keep my time efficient are:

Ad-Block Plus – this is a very popular ad blocker. I don’t even see Youtube ads.

Leechblock NG – This will restrict and limit time spent on certain websites. I use it for my news reading. I limit the minutes per day, and I also restrict my access from the afternoon onward. I find coming across depressing breaking news later in the day can stay with me. If its something beyond my control, why let it consume my day? I’ll find out about it during my scheduled news consumption times.

NoYoutube Contents – This removes all the distracting (and toxic) comments below the videos, turning Youtube into a basic video playing site. So I watch what I came for and move on. I also have it set to remove the related videos side bar so I don’t get sucked in and waste more time than I planned on.

NoScript – this turns off all javascripts OFF by default, and you must turn them on per site. It will remember which ones are turned on so you only have to do it once per website. This prevents me from a lot of malware risk, viruses, and also tracking scripts. I only turn on enough javascript to make the site function for me.

Youtube’s Annotations No More – This removes all those annoying pop-up messages on youtube videos.

Dark Reader – this will switch websites from light to dark backgrounds, to be easier on your eyes, especially at night when its dark.

All of the above plug-ins really help with a decelerated internet experience. Hope you found this list of help.
