There are no short cuts

While my story reads pretty good, and I’ve had a lot of success in my life, the reality is every accomplishment took a lot of time and hard work.

“The reality is great highs, terrible lows and unrelenting stress. Don’t think people want to hear about the last two.” – Elon Musk

I could write a similarly sized bio of all the hardship and stress I’ve gone through. In fact, I have an upcoming memoir of exactly that. It was all just part of the journey.

If things were truly easy, then anyone could have had what I’ve had. There’s a reason why I succeeded where others fell short.

You can make things a bit easier on yourself with education, studying what worked for others and try to model after them. However, no one is going to do the work for you, and you’re still going to have to figure out your specific path. I also guarantee it will take a lot longer than you want or hoped for.

And that is OK. That is part of it. Prepare yourself and just go for it.

I say this trying to avoid the usual motivational fluff. I’m speaking from somewhere as a person with real world experience and success (and plenty of failure and hard work).

Even now, for myself, as I work on “what’s next”, the actual process has been taking longer than I would have liked. I’m learning along the way of things I don’t want to do, and that is valuable, but at the same time I wish things were more clear for me as I navigate this.

In the meantime, I share these experiences on this blog. Thanks for reading.
